Shocking CCTV footage appears to show a man throwing a missing pet dog into a car boot by its legs.
Six-year-old Cocker spaniel, called Lassie, was allegedly taken from her back garden pen in Stokesley, North Yorkshire, on July 28 last year.
There was a nationwide appeal online by concerned members of the public and a large investigation has been held by police.
But seven months later, the family pet remains missing leaving owner Thomas Calvert feeling lost.
He told Hambleton Today : “The last seven months has been full of heartbreak, especially as we had to see her on CCTV getting carried by her back legs and bundled in to a waiting car.”
He said he wouldn’t stop looking until his best friend was back with him, where she belongs.
Thomas has urged anyone with information to come forward.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman told Hambleton Today: “Being the victim of any theft is distressing, but when it’s a pet it is especially upsetting.
“Officers have conducted an investigation into this incident, which has included extensive enquiries and reviewing CCTV from multiple sources.”
They asked anyone with information which they haven’t already shared with the police to contact them on 101 and select option 1, quoting reference NYP29092020-0112.
